House Panel Recommends Passing Bill to Legalize Marijuana Use

Manchester Ink Link’s author Nancy West reports that the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee gave a thumbs up to House Bill 481 that would legalize the use of marijuana for people aged 21 and older.

According to the article it is the first time the Committee, chaired by Rep. Renny Cushing (D-Hampton), recommended “ought to pass” for legislation that would legalize recreational use for adults.

State Representative Daryl Abbas (R-Salem) voted no and opposed the bill because of inconsistencies in how the report ignored some federal law while following others. He remarked…

“It’s attempting to legitimize a business that remains illegal under federal law.”

overnor Sununu has promised to veto any bill legalizing recreational use in NH, but there is hope a bill might be approved by a veto proof majority.
