SAFE Banking Act of 2019 Receives Committee Markup

Michelle Rutter at thecannabisindustry.org posted another article hot off the press. She reports that yesterday “H.R. 1595, the Secure and Fair Enforcement Banking Act of 2019, received a markup by the House Financial Services Committee and passed in a vote of 45-15.”

According to the report, this is the “…first time in history that a cannabis banking bill has reached this point in the legislative process.” To which we say, Amen to that!

The bill is now on it’s way to the House Judiciary Committee, one step closer to becoming law. Don’t be fooled, there is still a long ways to go in this process and the wheels of government turn slowly. But this is exciting news nonetheless.
