Rebecca McWilliams for Senate – The Second Senate Primary that Matters
Recently we shared with you that there was one senate primary that matters where Emily Phillips was challenging Senator Gannon, a staunch opponent of legal cannabis.
Well, we recently discovered that senator Whitley is not running again, which means there are TWO critical senate primaries if you want cannabis legalization in New Hampshire.
Pro cannabis candidate Rebecca McWilliams is running against multiple challengers September 10th. Below you can learn more about her candidacy. That senate seat represents District 15: Bow, Concord and Hopkinton.
ABOUT REP Rebecca McWilliams
Representative Rebecca McWilliams is running for the open Concord, Hopkinton & Bow Senate seat. She owns a small composting business with her husband James at the Lewis Farm in Concord. James is a cancer survivor and cannabis patient, and her family is sensitive to the cost of medication in NH. Rebecca supports an approach to legalizing cannabis that balances the interests of NH’s existing small business community, especially farms.
Over the past six years, McWilliams has cosponsored bills related to therapeutic cannabis, legalization, and possession. 2021 HB605, 2021 HB629, 2022 HB237, 2022 HB629, 2022 CACR20, and 2023 HB639.
McWilliams is the Deputy Ranking Member of the House Science, Technology, and Energy Committee; a Democratic Floor Leader, a member of the House Special Committee on Childcare, and a member of the Speaker’s Legislative Reform Working Group. She has passed 14 bills into law focused on cannabis, childcare, housing, clean energy, and healthcare access.
As State Senator, McWilliams is committed to legalizing cannabis with the maximum decentralized local opportunity, a focus on harm reduction, and tax dollars directed to benefit as many New Hampshire citizens as possible.
